Why I love Facebook Marketplace

I’ve known about Facebook Marketplace for years, but never used it. Why in the world would we need another place to sell our junk? But if you’ve read my recent posts, you know I’ve delved back into eBay and Craigslist and offloading stuff from my storage units. But selling has picked up! That’s why I love Facebook Marketplace.

When I have stuff to sell, I generally go to Craigslist. I find it’s quick and people are more than happy to travel to you to pick up whatever it is your selling. And they generally pay in cash on spot. Done and done.

But I recently posted about five things on Craigslist. For days…it was crickets. So I decided to give Marketplace a try and within a few minutes I already had the two products I posted accounted for. Unbelievable!

Why I love Facebook Marketplace

Who needs a pull-up bar? I mean, really. Apparently a lot of people!

For instance, I posted a pull-up bar I had sitting in storage. My pull-up game is non-existent, so I figured why in the hell am I storing this? I popped it on Craigslist for $50 and heard nothing. I posted it on Marketplace and had FIVE offers in the first hour. I have someone picking it up tomorrow morning.

Now the strategy is small, more expensive items go on eBay. Larger, pick-up only items go on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace.  And I’m going to start posting as much as possible to help clean out a storage unit. Because why should I pay to store things I don’t use? Terrible strategy.

I know there are a million apps and sites to use to sell your stuff. Do you have a favorite selling site/app? Let me know in the comments!
