How to shut off autoplay on Netflix

If you crush a lot of content on Netflix, you know your way around the platform. Perhaps you like the autoplay previews or the how the next episodes start without allowing you the proper amount of time for a bathroom break. It’s a genius concept, but many people would likely want to know how to shut off autoplay on Netflix.

It was so much of an issue, Netflix even mentioned it on Twitter recently to curb some frustration.

Here’s how to shut off autoplay on Netflix: The Previews

When you browse Netflix, you can automatically play trailers using autoplay to get a preview of a TV show or movie.

To turn autoplay previews off do the following:

  1. Sign In to Netflix from a web browser.
  2. Select Manage Profiles from the menu.
  3. Select the profile you’d like to update.
  4. Uncheck the option to Autoplay previews while browsing on all devices.

NOTE: There may be a delay before the setting takes affect. You can force an update by switching to another profile, then switching back in order to reload your profile with the updated setting.

When you watch TV shows with multiple episodes, you can automatically play the next episode using autoplay without needing to manually select it.

To turn autoplay episodes off:

  4. Uncheck the option to Autoplay next episode in a series on all devices.
