We are living in unprecedented times. Never before – at least in my lifetime – have we all been limited to going out, being around each other and living our normal lives…for days on end. Musicians are included. Therefore, we’re seeing a lot of artists performing at home. This is a great concept and very cathartic for people. I wanted to create a place to showcase all of them. That place is Concert Corona.
Artists performing from home
The site is a collection of top artists performing songs from their homes, their studios, pretty much anywhere they can while being isolated. It’s cool because you see some raw performances and a side of these artists that you may never have seen, or see again for that matter.
My buddies were on a group text talking about Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie. We were like a bunch of teenage girls talking about how he was going to play and livestream from his house at 7:00 p.m. daily. And after a few days, it’s become appointment entertainment for several of them.
Many times in the chat of these performances, people will list out the songs and time codes for the set list. I add that to the pages (if available) so people can see the songs that are played.
After starting this only a few days ago, we have 40 performances and are growing each day. I do have a small team helping out because it is work! But its enjoyable listening to all varieties of music while I build out the pages.
This is an ad-free site, all free and the credit goes to the artists since the videos are embedded. I’d like to think this is a small way to give back when everyone has time on their hands and they want to help out in this dire time.
